The Arkansas History Commission preserves the world's most significant collection of research materials pertaining to the Civil War in Arkansas. This site brings together information about many of these valuable resources.

In addition to traditional manuscript materials such as letters and diaries, extensive military records include Civil War service records for Arkansas Union and Confederate soldiers, Arkansas Confederate pension records, records of the Arkansas Confederate Home, and 1911 questionnaires enumerating Confederate soldiers living in Arkansas. Maps provide important geographical data about battles, skirmishes, and other activities, while photographs offer visual documentation of the era. County records and newspapers tell the story of life on the Arkansas home front. Books and printed ephemera also serve as valuable resources.
